This 29-year-old right handed opening batsman has a lot of experience behind him. He has represented Maharashtra at Under-17, Under-19 and at Under-22 levels. He represented Maharashtra in West Zone seniors one day matches and has been part of the under-16 West Zone setup in the past. Awate was also in the State one day squad which played against Bangladesh in 2001. He had a decent first MPL show, scoring 71 runs in three innings, with a strike-rate of 94. He did even better in the MPL-II, scoring 138 runs in five games, averaging a little over 27. His best was a 40-ball 42 against Devgiri Emperors, and his overall strike-rate for the season was 97.
