Deshmukh has always been known as a batsman with good, sound technique, someone who has scored consistent runs in Invitation cricket. His consistency helped him play for Maharashtra Ranji team, as well as the State U-22 team. He couldn’t quite bring that consistency to the MPL-I, scoring 74 runs in four innings, but had a decent average of 24.67. With a few more opportunities in MPL-II, Deshmukh showed his class in difficult batting conditions, with a 52-ball 60 against Devgiri Emperors. The 23-year-old ended up scoring 150 runs in the season with a very acceptable strike-rate of 94.93.
