Shivneri Lions is a very young team having an average age of about 21 years. They boast of a strong batting line up with six batsman with the likes of Taranjeet Singh and five bowlers with the inclusion of experienced Rajesh Mahurkar strengthening the attack. The Lions have all-rounders like Ashish Suryavanshi, and two wicketkeeper batsmen including new skipper Kaustubh Patil. After the first season in the MPL, Lions knew improvements were needed and that’s the reason that they have spent Rs. 1.73 lacks to get in six new players, the most noticeable of all the 19-year old Naushad Shaikh, a smart off-spinner who bats in the middle-order. The team went under the hammer for the 2010 season with JMJ Sports Academy, a unit of GT & T walking away with the honours of owning the Lions. Lions will be coached by Pradeep Ingale, who believes that his side will go all the way to the livewire this time. The Lions surely have the best mix of talent for their MPL quest. With a new team management for the Lions this season it’s again going to be a fresh start for them. The Lions surely have a young and motivated team at their behest and the man management would be the key to their success. For the record, Shivneri Lions were semifinalists in the inaugural edition of MPL.
