One of the smartest cricketing brains in the State, Motwani leads Maharashtra senior team in all three formats now. As an wicketkeeper-batsman, Motwani had a very good first MPL season for Royals in 2009, scoring 200 runs as a opening batsman. Later that season, he became Maharashtrafs crisis man, often scoring half-centuries with the State team in trouble. The Maharashtra team won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Championship, their first ever national T20 title, under Motwanifs captaincy, which sealed his promotion as a captain in all three formats. In MPL-II, when conditions, in general, were tougher for the batsmen, Motwani, nicknamed eMotuf, maintained his composure, and ended up scoring 180 runs, including a quality 50 against Torna Tigers. With his 17 dismissals behind the stumps, and his keeping improving every day, Motwani is undoubtedly one of the most valuable players for Royals.
