Owned by a cricket fan Girish Sathe, Devgiri Emperors are one of the contenders for the MPL title this year. Emperors had a decent run in the MPL 2010 as they finished 5th in the ranking and missed the knockouts by a whisker. They have spent a sum of Rs. 2.8 lakhs on their two signings, pace bowler Sajin Sureshnath and talented hard-hitter Prayag Bhati, to boost their chances of success this year at the MPL. Sathe, who is the Director of Muraspec Distributors India Pvt Limited, has been into business since the last five years, and believes that the MPL creates an avenue for rural players to prove their skills and abilities. Sathe has his business established in Mumbai and Pune and is confident that the MPL will open opportunities for the players from Maharashtra to prove themselves and make their mark on the national scene. This side, captained by Chetan Suryavanshi has a decent enough bowling attack with eight bowlers, six hard working all-rounders featuring Kartik Bhatia, Prayag Bhati the new inclusion, and five good batsman including the likes of the MPL top scorer Amit Patil and skipper Suryavanshi himself, who has also led Singapore in one ACC Trophy game. Emperors are probably the only team of the 'Elite Eight' to have district players out-number their city counterparts.
